Home > Get involved > Campaign with us >MPs, Lords, officials and advisors attended CLIC Sargent’s first Parliamentary Reception in the House of Commons on Wednesday 23 June 2010.
The reception provided an excellent opportunity for people, and particularly new MPs, to find out about the work we do and our ambitions for supporting children and young people with cancer in the future. Those attending were given an introduction to the charity, with our Parliamentary sponsors John Baron MP and Sharon Hodgson MP, Chair of Trustees, Daphne Pullen, Chief Executive Lorraine Clifton, and two young people that have been supported by us, making speeches.
Over 20 MPs, and a number of Lords, officials and advisors attended the event, where they declared their support by signing a specially designed pledge board. Attendees were also able to access a range of written information, meet with CLIC Sargent Care Professionals, and talk with young people that have been supported by the Charity.
The reception was the first step in enabling CLIC Sargent to build relationships with the new intake of MPs and we will be keeping them updated moving forwards to ensure care and support for children and young people with cancer remains on the political agenda.

We also put together a special leaflet to give to MPs on the day to ensure they were familiar with our work and the issues surrounding cancer in children and young people
