Home > About childhood cancer > For survivors > Survivors' Information Needs Survey >Why has the Survivors' Information Needs Questionnare been developed?
More children and young people are surviving cancer than ever before. This is great news, and it means that we are becoming more aware of the late and long-term effects of the illness. But because little has been known about these effects until recently, there isn't much information around to help people who have these effects. The experiences you tell us via the Survivors' Information Needs Questionnare will show us what information survivors of childhood cancer need, so that CLIC Sargent can develop better publications both for survivors, and for children and young people on treatment.
top of pageHow has the Survivors' Information Needs Questionnare being developed?
The Survivors' Information Needs Questionnare was developed by CLIC Sargent's Research & Development and Information departments, with the input of professionals working with childhood cancer survivors and children and young people on treatment.
The Survivors' Information Needs Questionnare is currently being tried out in several late effects and long-term follow up clinics across the UK.
top of pageWhat personal information will I be asked for?
We will ask you to let us know whether you are male of female, the country where you live, your ethnicity, current age and age(s) at diagnosis and, if applicable, relapse. This is so we can identify any overall patterns in the data we receive.
We would like to be able to contact you in future for further information about your needs as a survivor and will ask you to tick a box if you are happy for us to do so. Please be reassured that your details will not be passed on to any other organisation.
top of pageWhat will happen to the information I provide?
Your answers will be held on a secure server at CLIC Sargent's main office. CLIC Sargent's Research and Development team will analyse the data and a report on the findings will be published. This will be made available to anyone who completed the questionnaire. The questionnaire will ask you to tick a box if you are happy for us to use your words in quotes (eg. in reports, articles, information material). All quotes will be kept anonymous.
