These include a bank, hairdresser, gift shop, florist, newsagent, fashion shop, food retailers.

Train: Trains stop at Cambridge station, which is about 2 miles from Addenbrookes. There are buses every 10 minutes from the station to the hospital (Citi 1 & Citi 7), as well as a taxi service. For rail enquiries contact National Rail Enquiries on 0845 7 48 49 50 or visit www.nationalrail.co.uk

Parking on Site: A new car park with space for 1050 visitors and patients will open late March 2008. In the meantime, you are encouraged to use public transport, taxis or to walk or cycle, as parking at Addenbrooke’s is very limited and nearby roads get congested.

A 'Pay on Foot' car park system operates at Addenbrooke's and ticket machines are located in each car park. There is a temporary car park opposite the Addenbrooke’s Treatment Centre during the construction of the new car park.

If you are a patient with an outpatient appointment, park in Car Park H.

Car parking charges are as follows:
· £2.50 - 7am – 7pm Monday to Friday: For each visit
· £2.50 - 7pm – 7am Monday to Friday
· £2.50 - Sundays: for any length of time
· Normal parking charges apply on Saturdays in Car Park H – to receive a £2.50 exit ticket, take your entrance ticket and appointment letter to the main reception. (Outpatients parking in other car parks, Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5pm, should also take their entrance ticket and appointment letter to the main reception to receive a £2.20 exit.)

Visitor car parking charges are as follows:
Up to 2 hrs - £2.50
Over 6 hrs - £10
Evenings (7pm – 7am) & Sundays - £2.50 (for any length of time)
Frequent Visitor Discount - discounted parking tickets are available for multi-use over a 14 day period. These are obtained from the main reception.

Park and Ride: If there is no direct bus route to the hospital from where you are coming from, the Cambridge Park and Ride service can work out significantly cheaper then using the car parking at the hospital. General: Ward C2 – Paediatric Oncology.

No. of  Beds: 17, a mixture of bays and cubicles. 

Age Range: 0-16.

Additional Info: If child is under the age of two, he or she may be placed on another ward. The same applies if the child needs to be placed in the neuro-oncology ward.  If a young person is over the age of sixteen they will be placed on one of the adult wards. 

Please note that no flowers are allowed on the ward.   

Play: A playroom and teenage room are available. A play specialist is also on hand.

Learning: A school room is available with reading materials and associated school equipment. There are two dedicated teachers on the ward, covering primary and secondary education. They are able to liaise with the child’s own school.

Other Facilities: The children’s wards have facilities for washing drying clothes.  There is also a parents’ room.

Meal Times: There is no set time for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is a chef on the ward between the hours of 7am and 10pm, who will cook for the children as and when needed. They do not cater for parents/visitors. Parents are able to eat in the hospital food hall, where there is a Burger King, sandwich shop etc, or in the parents’ room on the ward. 

Rounds: Rounds are not at set times, but usually take place in the morning.  

Visiting: Visiting is completely open for parents.  

One parent is able to sleep by the child’s bed. Both parents are able to use the parent’s room on the ward, where there is a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and amenities to prepare and eat food. The Sick Children’s Trust provides ‘home from home’ accommodation in Acorn House for parents and siblings. Rooms cannot be booked in advance. 

There are support groups for parents run by CLIC Sargent workers and COPARS (Childhood Cancer Organisation for Parents and Relative Support).
