General hospital amenities
Various facilities are available at the hospital. You will find a restaurant, coffee shop and newsagent located in the Tower Block and the Cancer Centre.
The city centre is a 15-20 minute walk away. There are many facilities available nearby including local cafés and restaurants, shops, banks and a Movie House cinema. The Botanic Gardens are a 10 minute walk from the hospital and the Ulster Museum is also nearby.

Train: If you live outside the Belfast area it may be best for you to travel by rail. Northern Ireland Railways has a special railway station, immediately adjacent to the hospital, running regular connections on the Bangor, Derry, Dublin, Larne, Newry, Portadown and Portrush lines to Great Victoria St and Belfast Stations. The main train station in Belfast is located on Donegall Road in the centre of Belfast.
Bus: Regular buses serve the hospital. Metro Bus runs a regular service on bus routes 9A and 9B past the Lisburn Rd entrance to the hospital, and route 92A travels takes you to the Donegall Rd entrance. Ulster bus routes stop near the hospital’s main entrance.
Car: Belfast City Hospital is situated just to the southwest of Belfast city centre and is located close to the M1, making it easily accessible via the Irish road network.
Parking on Site: The hospital strongly encourages the use of public transport but there is car parking available on site in the new multi-storey car park off Donegall Rd. While there is no disabled car parking available in this facility, the hospital has 55 disabled car park spaces available on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park at the front of the Tower, and there are a further 7 outside the Accident & Emergency Department.

· Up to 1 hr - £1
· 1 to 2 hrs - £1.50
· 2 to 3 hrs - £2
· 3 to 4 hrs - £2.50
· 4 to 5 hrs - £4.50
· 6 to 24 hrs - £10

Ward details
General: Haematology - Ward 10 North in the Tower Block: An adult ward which accommodates adolescents and young adults. Oncology – Ward 4, Cancer Centre: An adult ward caring for adolescents and young adults.

Additional Information: In both wards young people will be given a single room where possible.

Recreation: There is a ‘Chillout Room’ on Ward 4 of the Cancer Centre available equipped with sofas and containing DVDs, videogames, a Playstation, and an air hockey table. The hospital is hoping to have more services available in the near future, including internet access, arts programmes and a youth service. There is a hospital school service available for young people in full-time education.

There are rooms where relatives can stay for short 'crisis stays' on both the Haematology Ward (10 North) and the Oncology Ward (Ward 4, Cancer Centre). Hospital accommodation is at present extremely limited. The CLIC Sargent Social Worker can provide further information.

Your care team can advise you of other local charitable/voluntary organisations which could support you with travel costs, holidays, financial support or with other types of support.
Children’s Hospice: Community Nurses based at the Children’s Hospice cover all of Northern Ireland for children up to the age of 18 who have life threatening illnesses. 18 O’Neill Road, Glengormley, Belfast, BT36 6WB.
Macmillan Nurses: Based in the community, who can offer a service to those over 18 years with a cancer diagnosis. Tel: 02890 661 166.
Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children: They offer a range of support services in the community including financial support and holidays and trips away for siblings, patients and their families. Please see your care professional for further information.
