The main hospital concourse has shops, a Post Office, NatWest bank and a range of eating facilities.

Travel details to hospital

Train: Cardiff Central station is located just over three miles from the hospital. Regular buses serve the hospital and the city centre from this train station.

Bus: There are frequent services to and from the hospital. Some of the services that travel to the hospital are listed below:
· Cardiff Bus Routes - 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 8, 8A, 9, 9A, 86 & 87
· Travel Coach Bus Routes – 98 and 99
· Stagecoach Bus Routes – A and B
· Bebb Bus Routes – 22
· Shamrock Bus Routes – 304 and L3

Parking on Site: Car parking is available in the multi-storey car park on the hospital site on a Pay-&-Display scheme. Parking here is not free for disabled people.  Long-term visitors can purchase and ‘Alpha Pass’ and receive discounted rates for parking.
Standard car parking charges are as follows:
· Up to 4 hrs - £2.10
· Up to 5 hrs - £3.30
· Up to 6 hrs - £5.40
· Up to 8 hrs - £6.60
· 8 to 10 hrs - £8.70
· Up to 24hrs - £10

Alpha Pass car parking rates are as follows:
· Days 1 to 14 - £3 per 24 hrs
· Days 15 to 28 - £2 per 24 hours top of page

Ward facilities

Play: There is a playroom located in both the Sky Ward and Space Outpatients Clinic. Both are well equipped with games, books, toys, computer games, DVD’s and videos.  There is an adolescent room for young people age 12 and over, which is equipped with fridge, kettle & microwave to prepare food, tv, video, dvd, Playstation, books, magazines and games etc.

Learning: Teaching is provided to children/young people of compulsory school age, after they have missed five accumulative days of school. Tuition is given in English and Maths for two-three hours a week during school term times.

Other Facilities: There is a parents’ sitting room in the Sky Ward.

Ward routine

Meals: Meals are at set times. Breakfast is 8am-8:30am, lunch at 12pm and dinner 5pm-5:15pm.

Rounds: Rounds take place twice daily, once in the morning, and again in the afternoon.

Visiting Hours: Visiting hours are completely open, but it is recommended that visitors leave around 8pm.

Accommodation for families

Accommodation is available on the ward for parents of children. There are also places available in the LATCH family accommodation on the 4th Floor next to the Space Outpatients Clinic. There are eight bedrooms available for parents (some with en-suites), washing and drying facilities, a kitchen, bathroom and sitting room.
