Travel details to hospital

Train: Wrexham Maelor Hospital is less than a mile from both the Wrexham General station (a short walk to the hospital gates) and Wrexham Central station (also a very short walk to the hospital). Regular buses leave the train stations and go into Wrexham centre and surrounding areas.

Bus: A number of services from Wrexham's King Street Bus Station run past the hospital on their way out of Wrexham.  Bus numbers 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 16A, 17, 26, 141, 142 and TL stop on Croesnewydd Rd outside the hospital. However, please check before travelling as they may be subject to change.

Parking on site: Parking is always in high demand, escpecially at visiting times. There are separate designated parking areas for patients/visitors and staff, and a Pay-&-Display charging system is in operation.
Car parking charges are as follows:
· 0 to 2 hrs - £1
· Up to 4 hrs - £2
· Up to 8 hrs - £3
· Over 8 hrs - £5 top of page

Ward facilities

Play:  The hospital is equipped with a playroom and teenage room run by two play therapists. Facilities include a computer, playstation, books, and arts & crafts. The ward also has a number of portable DVD players.

Learning: No permanent facilities are set up for learning. Schooling is arranged on an as needed basis for long term patients only.

Ward routine

Meals: Meals are at set times. Breakfast is at 8am, lunch at 12 pm and dinner at 5pm.

Rounds: Rounds take place from 9am each morning.

Visiting Hours: Visiting hours are completely open for family and friends.

Accommodation for families

Pull down beds are available for parents along side their child’s bed. The ward also has two overnight cubicles for parents (1 x single and 1 x double) equipped with tea, coffee and a microwave.
