General hospital amenities
Within the hospital you will find the Raleigh Galley Restaurant on Level 0 which is open from 7:30am–6:30pm, several canteens which serve a selection of hot and cold meals, a League of Friends tea bar and the Shack Snack which is open during the night.
The League of Friends tea bar is located in the main entrance foyer on Level 2 and offers a selection of goods including newspapers, magazines, flowers and confectionery. 24-hour vending machines are located on Level 0 and the first floor of the Ladywell Unit, public telephones are found throughout the hospital, baby changing facilities are available to males and females on Level 0 and TVs are available in all of the dayrooms.
Chaplaincy, which is Christian in staffing and services, is available to people of all faiths and none.

Travel details to hospital
Train: Barnstaple is the closest station to the hospital. A taxi to/from the station is advisable.
Bus: A number of buses come into the hospital site. The nearest bus station is in Barnstaple which has regular services to the hospital. National Express Coaches also drop off to this bus station. Bus timetables are available from the main hospital reception.
Parking on Site: Parking is available but charges apply. The main car park is clearly signposted. Two Pay-on-Foot machines are located in the car park and another just outside the hospital entrance. Discounted rates apply for long-term parking and can be purchased from the Information Desk in the main foyer, or from the switchboard after-hours. Discounted rates are: 5 days-£5 and 7 days-£6.

Play: The playroom is open all the time. A play specialist is on hand Monday-Friday and can assist your child with information on procedures and other preparation pre-surgery. Activities and facilities available include games, Playstation, Xbox, arts & crafts, TV and a wide selection of DVDs.
Learning: There is a full-time schoolroom, with a teacher, in operation. School operates Monday-Friday.
Other Facilities: Bedside internet is available through Patient-line TV, but only with parental authorisation.

Ward routine
Meals: Meal times are at set times. Breakfast usually begins around 8am but tends to be more flexible, lunch is at 12:30pm and dinner at 5:30pm. If a child misses his or her meal, snack boxes will be ordered on their behalf.
Rounds: There are no set times for the Doctor rounds. Consultants make their rounds on Monday afternoon and Thursday morning.
Visiting Hours: These are open to all.
