General hospital amenities
Level B – Main Entrance
- Main reception - an information point for travel advice/finding your way around the hospital

Travel details to hospital
Train: Nottingham & Beeston railway stations are approx 2.5 miles from the hospital. A rail bus (39) runs from the city centre to Beeston calling at the QMC.
Bus: Many buses frequent the hospital from all over Nottingham, the surrounding area and Derbyshire. Timetables can be found at the main reception, B Floor.

Park & Ride: The QMC Link 3 Bus, which operates Monday-Friday only provides a free, fast & frequent service for patients and their escorts. The route commences from Queen’s Drive Park & Ride site, near Clifton at 8am each day. Pay your Park & Ride ticket at the link machine (£2.50 per car, per day) and catch the free Link 3 service that runs approximately every 20 minutes to the QMC.
Parking on Site: There is a multi-storey car park, but due to high demand parking can be difficult and you will usually queue to get into the car park at peak times. Please allow extra time for parking.
Patients can be dropped off and collected from the main entrance, B Floor. Waiting time is very limited.
Disabled Parking (Blue Badge Holders) is also very limited. There are spaces outside the Fracture/Trauma Clinic car park (A Floor) and also opposite the multi-storey car park, East Block.
On site car park charges work on a Pay-on-Foot System. Charges are as follows:
· Up to 2 hours: £2.50
· 2-4 hours £4.00
· 24 hours £5.00

General: There are two wards that are able to accommodate the children and young people.

Ward facilities
Play: There are playrooms on both wards, which are well-equipped with games, activities and crafts. Play specialists work to support and prepare the children for treatment.
Learning: A hospital school is also situated on E Floor. This is a friendly, comfortable environment in which young patients can keep up with their school work. The teachers liaise with the child’s school to ensure continuity in their education. http://www.qmchospitalschool.ik.org/

There is a parents room beside ward E38 with laundry facilities. This is used as a ‘quiet’ space and also for parents’ groups.
Family members can eat in the ward (microwave/toaster/fridge are provided for use). Parents can also use the staff restaurant on D Floor. Discounts for meals may be provided, so speak to the Family Support Worker for further details via the ward staff.

Meal Times: These are at set times. However this can be flexible, especially if a child has missed a meal due to treatment etc.
Visiting: Visiting hours are open up to 8pm.

Parents and carers are encouraged to stay with their child on the ward. Please ask ward staff for further information.

A CLIC Sargent Youth Worker is available to support young people between the ages of 12-21 years, organising group activities and one-to-one informal counselling. There is a youth room situated on E Floor where group activities take place including a young people’s social group which meets on a monthly basis.
There is a Macmillan Nurse who provides outreach care, and a complementary therapist.
