General hospital amenities
The hospital has a WRVS shop, a café and a restaurant for patients and visitors. There is a cashpoint machine and payphones located throughout.
Locally, there is a Post Office and take-away restaurant opposite the hospital. The hospital is located only two minutes from the centre of Bangor, where you will find everything you may need. There is also a Tesco located just a short walk from the hospital grounds.

Travel details to hospital
Train: The main train station is just on the outskirts of Bangor. Regular buses go to and from the hospital to the train station.
Bus: Arriva buses operate a regular service from the hospital grounds into town and also to the main railway station.
Parking on Site: There are car parking facilities available but parking can be a problem, especially at peak times. Visitors and patients should park in the first car park on the left as you enter the hospital grounds.
Car parking charges are as follows:
· Up to 2 hrs – 60p
· Up to 3 hrs - £1.10
· Up to 4 hrs - £2.20
· Up to 8 hrs - £5.50
· Over 8 hrs or lost ticket - £10

General: Minffordd Ward – General Paediatric

No. of Beds: One designated cubicle containing 1 bed is available for oncology patients on the ward.
Age Range: 0 – 16

Play: There is a play area in the middle of the ward for all children. The area is well-equipped with toys, arts & crafts and games. There is a play specialist available on the ward, so if the child is neutropaenic, work and play can be brought to the child’s bedside.
The cubicle is equipped with a TV, DVD player and games.
Learning: A dedicated teacher is able to provide school work for the children. There is a school room on the ward and the teacher is able to liaise with the child’s local school to co-ordinate work.

Meals: These are generally at set times. Breakfast is flexible, lunch is at 11:45am and dinner at 5:45pm. It is understood that flexibility is required in this area and the ward staff can be very accommodating in this respect.
Rounds: These take place every day, although times may vary.
Visiting Hours: Visiting hours are open and at the discretion of the ward sister. However, for neutropaenic children, visiting is restricted to close family only.

One parent is able to sleep next to their child in the cubicle on a pull-out bed. There is also Ty Enfys family accommodation available on the ward. This is equipped with beds and a kitchen.
