message: Hi, our son was diagnosed with ALL nearly 2 months ago, and I need to start trying to get back in some way to my job. Can anyone give any advice on how to balance all the treatments etc with juggling work? I've told my company it could be another 4 months - before I get near being back full time - is this realistic?

message: When our son was diagnosed with leukaemia at 10 yrs of age both my wife and I were working full time. This is a difficult one and treatments and responses to treatments vary in individual cases.Accordingly therefore you're time commitments will vary.In the end we found it best for my wife to work full time during the week and I went down more towards part time. Its a good thing to get friends and family to help out with what I will term 'lesser routine hospital apppointments'I would say the key about carrying on full time is to make your employer aware of the need for flexibilty. You can make up time as and when possible.Try to negotiate maximum flexibilty.Under the circumstances most employers to my knowledge are co-operative. Regards Neil.

message: Our son was diagnosed with AML in 1999.The best advise we could give you ask your employer for their support and do whatever you are comfortable. At times work will be very difficult and other times not a issue. You must just do whats needed at the time.I hope this helps
