What was the project about?
The aim of the three month project was to to make our website youthtastic! in other words interesting, appealing and relevant to young folks during and after treatment for cancer.

4 young people age 16 to 20 living in the south west of England and south Wales volunteered to become CLIC Sargent’s Young Web Champions.

The Young Web Champions, who have all completed their treatment, took part in a training weekend in Bristol on the 4th and 5th April 2009. Thanks to the training weekend the Web Champs were then able to build new and exciting pages for Usurf, the youth area on the CLIC Sargent website.

What were the benefits to the Young Web Champions?
The project gave the Web Champs the opportunity to develop lots of new skills and experiences which have also been a valuable and interesting addition to their CV.

What happens now?

Young people who viewed the new pages said they found the Web Champs' first-hand accounts of their experience of cancer and treatment interesting and helpful. CLIC Sargent is now looking at how we can involve young people further.
