Britannia has a commitment to being socially responsible and being a great place to work, grow and develop, and encourage all of their people to put something back into the community.
Every other year, Britannia's employees choose a corporate charity as the focus for all group fundraising activity for the year. In 2006, they chose CLIC Sargent. The fundraising year begins and ends with the annual general meeting. Previous beneficiaries have included the NSPCC, Macmillan Cancer Relief and Cancer Research UK.
From April 2006 until April 2007 staff and customers of Britannia took part in a range of fundraising activities for CLIC Sargent.
From dress-down days to quiz nights and cake 'n' candy sales to a sponsored abseil, staff got involved in many ways. CLIC Sargent counter top products were also sold throughout the network of 253 Britannia branches.
Over the year Britannia raised a fantastic £300,000 for CLIC Sargent.
Neville Richardson, Britannia's Group Chief Executive said, "CLIC Sargent is not the most well known charity in the country, but as the UK's leading children's cancer charity they offer much needed support to hundreds of families every day.
"Britannia's 5500 employees recognised this when they chose them to be the worthy recipients of the Society's fundraising activities during 2006.
"The work CLIC Sargent does helps to ease a very difficult time for families throughout the UK and this resonated with every single member of staff, motivating them to raise a tremendous £300,000 in just twelve months."
