Home > Get involved > Corporate partnerships > Current corporate partners >In January 2008 CLIC Sargent was voted as the main beneficiary of the Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) Charity of the Year programme – the Million £ Challenge. Within three months, CLIC Sargent was delighted to hear that the initial target of £1 million had been reached in record time!
HBOS plc colleagues, customers and shareholders have been fundraising for CLIC Sargent through a varied range of activities, and every pound raised is matched by the HBOS Foundation. Now that the first £1 million has been reached for CLIC Sargent, fundraising continues and all additional funds are split equally between CLIC Sargent and the two runner-up charities, Age Concern and Diabetes UK.
This year, over £4 million is expected to be raised through the Million £ Challenge. Therefore as lead charity, CLIC Sargent could receive a staggering £2 million from the partnership which will fund the vital CLIC Sargent care grants scheme.
Carole Easton, CLIC Sargent CEO said: “Everyone at CLIC Sargent is incredibly grateful to HBOS colleagues for their impressive fundraising efforts. The £1 million raised will provide financial assistance to families whose children are being cared for cancer.”
Angela Tinker, Head of the HBOS Foundation added: “It’s fantastic news that HBOS colleagues, customers and shareholders have already achieved the £1 million target for CLIC Sargent, which will benefit so many families across the UK. This has broken all our records, and we are confident through the continued hard work and support of our staff that we can raise a great deal more for CLIC Sargent, Age Concern and Diabetes UK too.”
Future fundraising activities include a large online auction available to all 67,000 colleagues, a mountain bike challenge set in the picturesque Aviemore area of Scotland, monthly dress down days at all sites across the UK, Christmas card competitions and more.
top of pageFundraising story of the month: HBOS Holiday Raffle raises £64,000!
HBOS have continued to excel with their fundraising this year and the annual HBOS Holiday Raffle was no different. The fundraising event has raised an amazing £64,000 for the company's Million £ Challenge. In its most successful year, 32,000 colleagues bought tickets with the three lucky winners each receiving an extra week’s holiday and £2,000 worth of traveller’s cheques.
Patron Chris Hollins drew the raffle on behalf of CLIC Sargent outside BBC Television Studios in August, accompanied by Peter Holding from the HBOS Foundation and Sarah Ricketts, CLIC Sargent's Corporate Account Manager.
