With an original pledge of £500,000, today JD Wetherspoon is CLIC Sargent’s largest corporate partner and has raised an amazing £2 million for the Charity.
The relationship has gone from strength to strength over the last five years with JD Wetherspoon working incredibly hard so they hit the £2million mark by Christmas 2007! JD Wetherspoon and their staff really get behind the Charity in every way possible - whether that is organising individual fundraising events at their 676 pubs across the country, or supporting the annual events which take place.
top of pageThe highlight of the JD Wetherspoon fundraising calendar is the much talked about Kick for Children with Cancer football tournament. From a pilot event in London back in 2002, this year saw over 350 teams take part across eight venues with the final being played at the prestigious David Beckham Academy. The winning team from each venue battled it out in October to become crowned Kick for Children with Cancer Champions 2007. Thanks to the continued support and enthusiasm of all the staff at JD Wetherspoon’s, over £135,000 was raised this year which makes it the most successful event to date.
JD Wetherspoons's fundraising also goes as far as the menu! JD Wetherspoons donates 10p from every children’s spaghetti bolognese meal sold directly to CLIC Sargent. This is CRM activity is promoted on the JD Wetherspoon menu and raises, on average, an amazing £2,000 a month.
