Help Becki with Butterfly Knitting for CLIC Sargent
Brave London mum Becki Josiah lost her beautiful daughter Billie to cancer on 27th April 2006 aged only 14. Billie had received help from CLIC Sargent at University College London Hospital and in memory of her beloved daughter, Becki is now joining her two main passions, her children and knitting, to help raise money for other families who have a child with cancer.
Becki explains; ‘When Billie was very, very sick I promised her that I would do everything I could to stop another child going through what she did. I'm not a doctor, I'm not a scientist - actually I never even got my maths 0'level! Well I can try and raise as much money as I possibly can. And I want everyone else to help me AND have fun at the same time’
Becki’s idea is to get anyone out there who can knit to help her make amazing scarves which can be sold in aid of CLIC Sargent. You don’t even have to knit an entire scarf and you can even use any of the spare wool you have in your house.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Step 1. Knit or crochet strips 200cm long OR 100cm long (one is for adults and one for children) between 5cm and 10cm wide. This can be in any yarn or stitch you want.
Step 2. Send your strip(s) to Sue Bowcock at CLIC Sargent with your name and address. Sue will pass the strips on to Becki to sew them up into lovely scarves and shawls. They will be suitably embellished and finished and then sold in aid of CLIC Sargent.
