The 2008 Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge was a great success, with 37 riders biking a new route over 1700 mies from the UK, through France, over the Pyranees and onto the finish in Barcelona.
CLIC Sargent organised for two groups to take part in the event this year. The May group of riders watched the Le Mans GP en-route while the June group finished their challenge at the Catalunya GP outside Barcelona. Although the weather wasn't always favourable, the riders came back with stories of riding stunning stretches of open road, some unforgettable and challenging twists and turns in the Pyranees.
The May group were lucky enough to bump into Bradley Smith, the 16-year old Polaris World 125 team rider, pedalling up the Pyranees on a bicycle during a training session.
As well as being a great group of people and all getting on brilliantly, the fundraising has been fantastic this year yet again. The two groups are set to raise over £80,000 to help children with cancer. Since the first Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge in 2006, the event has raised more than £250,000. Well done everyone!

With the success of our 2006 pilot event, places filled quickly after the 2007 event launch. 41 riders, in two groups, took on this European challenge.
Although there was poor weather during the challenge, this did not dampen their enthausiasm and the stunning scenery and great company ensured the teams had a great time.
The groups visited various European Grand Prix tracks during their challenge and some of the riders were able to lap Brands, Nuburgring, Chimay and Spa Francorchamps, before they ended up at Assen for a celebration watching the GP!
