Eddie and Sian’s daughter Anna was diagnosed with cancer at the age of seven. 

Sian says: “When Anna had a nose bleed and it wouldn’t stop, I took her to A&E. We were referred to hospital.”

“When the doctors told us she had cancer, they said that Anna might not survive. I can’t find the word to describe what it feels like when you are told that. My husband passed out.”

“Pretty soon our savings ran out and then our claim for Disability Living Allowance was rejected. The hospital put us in touch with a CLIC Sargent Social Worker who gave us lots of pointers. We got there in the end, but at the time it was a stress we really didn’t need.”

“Life will never be the same again, from the moment Anna was diagnosed with cancer everything changed, I have changed and my family have all changed.

“For a whole year after the transplant Anna basically lived in a state of isolation. Over the last six months we have slowly started to take the barriers down.

“During the treatment you have to keep yourself so busy, and for so long I was totally driven by finding a Bone Marrow donor for Anna that when suddenly it all stopped it hit home just what my little girl had been through and how close to losing her we’d been.”
