Home > Get involved > Legends >Chris was a single parent when his son Liam, aged 13, was diagnosed with leukaemia.
"On Christmas Eve our world came tumbling down arond us when we were told Liam had leukaemia," recalls Chris.
"Financially I struggled to stay afloat. Our CLIC Sargent Social Worker, Tracy, was an amazing support. She organised for us to receive two CLIC Sargent care grants. The money helped pay for the three hour round trip to Liverpool for Liam's treatment; sometimes as often as four times a week.
"I don't think anyone realises just how difficult it is to split your life between hospital and home. When your child has cancer you feel like the rest of the world should come to a stand still but it doesn't. Luckily charities like CLIC Sargent keep you going during this difficult time."
