Common questions

Can I volunteer for roles that directly support children and young people with cancer?

Generally there are very few opportunities for volunteers to undertake roles that directly support children and young people with cancer. However, if positions are available and your skills match the profile required you will be offered the opportunity to apply for the role. All of the other volunteer opportunities we have available will help us to help children with cancer, from fundraising to office support.

How much time do I have to give?

We have a range of opportunities to suit everyone, whether you want to volunteer a free morning once a week, to help out at a one off event or you can commit to a more long term project. All of our volunteers make a valuable and lasting difference to CLIC Sargent.

Where can I volunteer?

Our volunteer opportunities reflect the UK wide nature of our organisation. Our volunteers can be found out and about promoting and fundraising in local communities, along with being based at our main offices in Bristol and Hammersmith, and also at our regional offices in Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Henley in Arden, Oxford, Bury St Edmunds, Lewes, Andover and Prestwick. We also have 26 charity shops throughout the South West in constant need of volunteers. Whatever your location, we can use your volunteer support.

What references will I need to give?

CLIC Sargent will need two reliable references in order for you to begin volunteering with us. For certain positions that involve working with children, young people, vulnerable groups or sensitive data, applicants will need a Criminal Records Bureau check. We will process this for you, but please note this can take time.
