Nicola Benedetti was busy encouraging young musicians to get involved in Practice-a-thon when she visited Marr College in Troon. Accompanied by members of their award winning Baroque Group, Nicola also visited children staying at one of our holiday homes for children with cancer – Malcom Sargent House.  This visit was covered by the BBC.

Craig Barnet and his students

Rocking out to raise money – Craig Barnet and his students who raised over £500.

‘I’m really proud of my students. It's hard to get them to practise daily but as soon as I told my students who they could raise money for, they really got behind it! It was so easy to do, all I had to do was agree the amount of practise with them and they just ran with it. They have all come out better guitarists and the children have really enjoyed practising.’

Craig Barnet, CLB Tuition, Somerset

Musicians at Glasgow Junior School

Musicians at Glasgow Junior School raised the magnificent sum of £2,214.40

‘Its great to know that such a wonderful idea will benefit children from all of the UK with cancer related illnesses, and my pupils are very pleased that Scottish children will benefit directly. I’m so pleased that this endeavour has met such terrific support locally, particularly as everyone’s a winner, especially the children who need our help.’

Mrs Loveday McBalin, Ayrshire

" I was really pleased that so many of my pupils who took part and they certainly felt they had benefited from the regularity of their practise. Not everyone can do a run or a parachute jump but this is something that everyone, irrelevant of their ability, can do to support a good cause. Also, no musician, amateur or professional is too big not to practise! " Rosemary Wright, Virtuoso Accordionist, Leicestershire
