Practice-a-thon is an annual UK-wide fundraising campaign organised by CLIC Sargent. Pupils and young performers can get sponsored to practice for upcoming exams or a show, or put on a Practice-a-thon concert or performance in aid of CLIC Sargent. They can have fun, develop their musical, singing and dancing skills and help children and young people with cancer at the same time.

What does taking part involve?

There are many easy ways you can be part of Practice-a-thon. Here are some ideas:

  • Sponsored practice - many different groups choose to do this and it’s a great way to make sure everyone can join in. This can be excellent preparation for their exams or an upcoming show or concert
  • Variety show – encourage pupils to organise a ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ style show for the group or school
  • Hold a collection at your end of term production, or Christmas concert or show

The Practice-a-thon fundraising pack contains lots more ideas so sign up today!

Who can take part?
The event is for everyone, any age, ability and all instrumental, musical, singing and dancing styles. We are encouraging all schools, music, singing and dance classes, choirs, orchestras and groups to get involved.

What happens after the event?
Please encourage the children and performers to collect their sponsorship money as soon as possible. Count the money and deduct 25% for your school or club before sending it to CLIC Sargent (unless you're donating 100%).

Where does our money go?
Don’t forget that as well as being a great performance opportunity for children and young people, your school or group can also keep up to 25% of the money raised for your own music or dance initiatives, like instruments, sheet music or dance mats. The rest of the money raised will help CLIC Sargent’s work to support children and young people with cancer and their families.

" This is the first time we have taken part in Practice-a-thon; we all enjoyed taking part and we will definitely make it an annual event. It is fabulous that we could raise money for your wonderful charity as well as make a small amount of money for the school. " Gayle, music teacher
