Sunday 19 June saw the 30th anniversary of the Great Notts Bike Ride. After a bit of a slow start the 72 mile riders were off into the Nottinghamshire countyside, closely followed by the 58 miles riders and then the 19 milers.
Riders aiming to complete the family lap around the water at the National Water Sports Centre were the last to set out. Luckily the rain held off on the day and a bit of sunshine even appeared.
Approximately 4,000 riders took part and many more people were involved in the event, from the volunteers manning the feed stations along the route (CLIC Sargent’s was at the Fox Inn at Kelham), to those marshalling the route (CLIC Sargent did the family lap around the National Water Sports Centre).
The relationship with the event organisers Perfect Motion and Pennine Events will last 3 years, and is hoped to raise in excess of £30,000 for CLIC Sargent.
Additionaliy the relationship will help to raise awareness of the work the chraity do locally in the Nottinghamshire area. Money has already started to come in with £1,000 already secured for each charity.
CLIC Sargent would like to take this opportunitiy to thank everyone who choose to ride either for CLIC Sargent or all 4 of the Official Charities and all the volunteers involved in the bike ride. The event couldn’t happen without them.
