On Friday 30 March, Jon Smallwood, Deputy Head, Bredon School, Gloucestershire, will attempt to perform 100 headstands along a 10 mile walk in the Malvern Hills. In order to successfully complete this challenge he will have to undertake a headstand every 170 yards!
Jon hopes to raise money for CLIC Sargent solely by performing headstands in the weirdest and wackiest of places for donations. Jon has stood on his head on a 30 foot high rock, a man's stomach in a beer garden, on the Orient Express and even on a plane near Syria!
He has become so well-known for his party piece that last year he featured on BBC1's ‘The One Show.’ With thousands of people viewing videos of him in action online, he's become known as the ‘Headstand King.’
CLIC Sargent is a charity close to Jon’s heart as he was diagnosed with Leukaemia three years ago. Fortunately he made such a good recovery that he was able to return to his teaching job after missing just five months of work, whilst receiving treatment.
Jon will kick-start his fundraising by undertaking the Southampton Hospital Abseil in February, where he hopes to finish the abseil in a headstand.
