Staff at Taunton based insurance company, Lloyd & Whyte Group Ltd, have raised over £8,000 for CLIC Sargent! The charity was chosen by staff as the company’s 2010 charity of the year.
From cake sales and quiz nights, to dressing up as superheroes, staff have spent the year competing to see which team could raise the most money.
The choice of CLIC Sargent as charity of the year partner meant a great deal to one member of staff, Sarah Godber-Ford; Sarah was supported by CLIC Sargent when her son Sam was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Sarah said, “I don’t know how we would have coped without the support we’ve received from CLIC Sargent. It is every parent’s worst nightmare, but with CLIC Sargent’s help we’ve been able to fight Sam’s illness and will continue to do so.”
Sarah added, “I’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of my colleagues at Lloyd & Whyte, £8,000 is a tremendous amount of money.”
Kiren Fernandes, Community Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent, said, “The amount raised is absolutely fantastic! I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Lloyd & Whyte for all of their fundraising. The money raised will help support families and children like Sam. Everyone was so generous with their time and with the continued support of companies like Lloyd & Whyte, we will be able to help to reduce the impact of cancer for more children and young people, and their families, across the UK.”
