Ellen Couzens, a mother from Nailsea, is hosting a toddler disco as part of Yummy Mummy Week, which runs from Saturday 10 March to Sunday 18 March (Mother’s Day).
The fun-packed fundraising campaign is all about mums doing something yummy for children and young people with cancer, whilst spending quality time with their children, family and friends. The money raised will help CLIC Sargent continue to be there from the point of diagnosis to support the whole family in coping with the impact of cancer, its treatment and life after treatment.
Mums and children, (one-five years) are being invited to come along for an afternoon of groovy music from The Little Disco Company, puppetry and great entertainment for all.
The event will take place at 2nd Nailsea Scout Hut, Hannah Moor Road in Nailsea from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday 17 March. Entrance will be £1 for adults, £3 for children, (one-five years) and free entry for babies.
Ellen, who will be taking part in Yummy Mummy Week for a second consecutive year said, “Before I had children I always used to participate in fundraising events like charity walks, but as soon as I became a mum I wasn’t able to take part so easily. When I stumbled across Yummy Mummy Week last year I was delighted – I can raise funds to support children with cancer whilst I have a ball with my fellow mums and babies.
“Last year I organised a coffee morning and ‘mummy market’ with lots of yummy cakes and great children’s stalls. We raised a great amount and everyone really enjoyed themselves. I’m hoping that my toddler disco this year will be just as successful and raise even more to make a real difference to families affected by childhood cancer.”
As well as hosting fundraising events, people can also support the campaign by purchasing gifts from the Yummy Mummy product range. With something to suit every mum and all budgets, finding a gift for Mother’s Day couldn’t be simpler!
