Our Regional Fundraising Manager, Susan Newcombe was invited as guest speaker at the Mess Club of the Fire Service College in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire on Friday 21st May.
The evening was to mark the outgoing of President, Mr Mark Scruby, to thank him for his year in office and then for him to hand over the title and chain of office to the incoming President, Mr Bob Ayers.
The newly appointed President, Bob Ayres is responsible for choosing the 'Mess Club of the Fire Service College Charity of the Year' and we are delighted that he chose CLIC Sargent for his year in office.
The evening was a great success with nearly £900 being raised from the evenings raffle and the entertaining Presidents Ball fines, one of which was for being ‘too tall’!
Susan Newcombe said ‘the food was delicious and the company enchanting and it was both an honour and a pleasure to have been invited on behalf of CLIC Sargent’
The Fire Officers Mess has a number of events planned for the year ahead to include a Quiz night, Bonfire Night and Christmas Ball.
The photograph on the right was taken in front of the famous painting ‘Saved’ of a fireman carrying a child out of a building. It was painted by Charles Vigoit in 1894 and later rediscovered by John A Perkins MBE Chief, Fire Officer of the Southport Borough Fire Brigade.
