Young musicians from Plymouth are hoping to hit the right note to raise much-needed funds for CLIC Sargent.
The 60 pupils, aged from 7 to 11, from High View Primary School, are hoping to raise £1,000 by practising their ukulele playing and performing tunes like You are my Sunshine as part of Practice-a-thon Music - one of CLIC Sargent’s national fundraising campaigns.
Practice-a-thon Music encourages musicians of all ages and abilities to practice their instruments to raise money for families affected by childhood cancer. Groups are invited to host their own event or to pick any two week period between September and June to hold a sponsored practice.
Kim Dorian-Kemp, Headteacher says "I am very proud of our children for raising funds for such a worthwhile cause. I am sure they will enjoy the day considerably, whilst also thinking of others not so fortunate as themselves."
Local Event Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, Emma Perry, said: “It is great that High View Primary School has signed up to take part in Practice-a-thon Music. By taking part in this event these pupils will help to make a real difference to the lives of those families who have been affected by childhood cancer. And practise their ukulele skills at the same time!
Those who take part in Practice-a-thon Music can choose to keep 25 per cent of the money raised for their school or music group or donate the full amount to CLIC Sargent to help provide all round care and support for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Visit Practice-a-thon Music pages to take part or telephone 0845 120 6340 to find out more.
